Sing the Letterland Song:

Bouncy, Bouncy, bouncy, bouncy,
bouncy, bouncy, bouncy, bouncy,

Bouncy Ben is very busy bouncing
every day.

Bouncy Ben has got a big blue
ball and likes to play.

He rows his boat
across the brook,

sits on the bank
and reads a book.

That's bouncy, bouncy, bouncy,
bouncy, bouncy, Bouncy Ben

Thursday 21 June 2012

The day started with a find, an unexpected addition to our space...............

Logan found a HUGE spider in our
homework book box.

We decided it was unfair to keep the spider in our classroom.

We finished the day with a wonderful school assembly.

We welcomed Mya, Levi, Raymond and Alex

Welcome Raymond, Alex,  Mya and Levi

Rata Block shared an item at our assembly today....

Let's go to Letterland

Certificates:

 Mac and Riley received certificates
for Self-management.
Congratulations

Yesterday we made some Matariki biscuits.
Mrs Foster made the biscuits to share with us and we decorated them to share with our whanau.

                                    matarikim

Matariki, the Maori New Year

Once a year in the winter sky just before dawn, Matariki (the Pleiades) signals the Maori New Year.

Matariki is a small but distinctive star cluster known as the Pleiades star cluster or the seven sisters whose appearance in the north eastern pre-dawn sky in late May, early June marks the start of a new phase of life.

This year on 21 June the Matariki star cluster rises into our skies signalling the beginning of a month of celebration.

During Matariki we acknowledge what we have and what we have to give. Matariki celebrates the diversity of life. It's a celebration of culture, language, spirit and people.

Matariki is our Aotearoa Pacific New Year.

Matariki is a time for making special things for family and friends - share a meal, share family stories, learn about the stars.

Matariki is a time to plant trees and winter crops. A time of new beginnings and reflection.

Have a look at the stars this week and see if you can find the 7 stars of Matariki

HAPPY MATARIKI

Kicking King

Kicking King likes a football trick....

flick the ball back with a special kick.

If it's a goal then the crowd
give a king-sized roar

and his kangaroo
keeps the score.
